2017 THE 3RD CHANGBAISHAN INTERNATIONAL ICE AND SNOW SCULPTURE COMPETITION
1. Introduction:
2017 The 3rd Changbaishan International Ice and Snow Sculpture Competition, together with “Changbaishan International Winter Carnival”, aims to develop Changbaishan winter tourism industry.
This competition is sponsored by Changbaishan Protection Development Zone Management Committee and The China Urban Sculpture Artists Association. The event will invite 30 teams from 11 countries to create 30 masterpieces of ice and snow sculptures each. Our organizing committee will invite well-known artists from home and abroad to become our judges, to evaluate our competitors, and finally to choose the winners. The details of the competition are as follows:

2017 The 3rd Changbaishan International Ice and Snow Sculptur Competition.
3. The purpose of this competition:
To optimize Changbaishan tourism characteristic and resources,
To meet and satisfy the current tourism market,
To pay more attention to the diversed needs of personal experience,
To portray sculpture’s aesthetics, artistic merit, interest, and interactivity of ice and snow sculpting competition.
To strengthen the scenic spot competitiveness,
To form a unique scenic natural resources which has cultural characteristics,
To create a sustainable tourism,
To improve Changbaishan reputation by melding the natural gifts and local culture.

6. Prizes: The winning teams will get certificate, medal, and cash award.
(1) Ice Sculpture Prizes:
1st Prize: 1 team, 15,000 RMB
2nd Prize: 1 team, 10,000 RMB
3rd Price: 1 team, 5,000 RMB
Creativity Award: 5 teams, 1,000 RMB each
(2) Snow Sculpture Prizes:
1st Prize: 1 team, 15,000 RMB
2nd Prize: 1 team, 10,000 RMB
3rd Price: 1 team, 5,000 RMB
Creativity Award: 5 teams, 1,000 RMB each

8. Rules and Regulations:
(1) Participants:
Domestic and foreign artists, art school teachers and graduates.
(2) Theme:
Any masterpiece with Changbaishan characteristics or other themes.
(3) Competition regulation:
The style and form of artwork is not limited, enhance the original artwork. Teams are allowed to submit the two designs of ice sculpture and snow sculpture each. A hand or computer drawing is allowed (jpeg format, 300 dpi), no less than A4 size, with a short introduction of 200 words or lesser. Artwork must be original, plagiarism is strictly prohibited. Plagiarism will result in elimination.
(4) Team composition:
Participants are allowed to set up their own team. Each team consists of three people (Ice sculpting requires significant labor; therefore, please consider the composition of male and female participants in your team. Once the competition started, the change of team members are not allowed. Special reason must be approved by the organizing committee.)
(5) Insurance:
All participants are required to have a valid insurance policy. A copy of the insurance company must be provided at registration point. All teams should pay attention to their own safety during competition. Organizing Committee accepts no responsibility for any accidents or damaged.
(6) Submission Deadline:
Artwork design and registration form need to be sent via email by December 20, 2016.
(7) Artwork Selection:
Expert judges will choose outstanding outworks to join competition, to affirm the competition, and to confirm the team.
(8) Block size:
Ice block size: 2m long, 0.7m wide, 2m high.
Snow block size: 3m long, 3m wide, 3.5m high.
9. Judging Criteria:
Host will invite senior artists, experts, and professors from China and abroad as our judges, who will assess the artwork entries fairly.
10. Registration fees:
(1) This competition is free of charge
(2) Organizing committee is responsible of participants’ transport, food, and accommodation.
(3) This competition provide one-time winter allowance (Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan team is part of international team), the standard is as follow: domestic team is eligible for 2000 RMB per team, while international team is eligible for 6000 RMB per team.
11. Schedule arrangement from January 10, 2017 to January 18, 2017 (9 days):
l January 10, 2017 registration site: Changbaishan Paradise Resort, Erdao Baihe Town, Chibei District, Changbaishan, Jilin, China.
l January 11, 2017 morning: Opening Ceremony of 2017 The 3rd Changbaishan International Ice and Snow Sculpture Competition.
l January 11 – 13, 2017: Ice sculpture creation.
l January 14 – 16, 2017: Snow sculpture creation.
l January 17, 2017: Each team to enhance their artwork.
l January 18, 2017 morning: Judges will evaluate and determine the winning entries.
l January 18, 2017 afternoon: Award giving ceremony and the closing ceremony of 2017 The 3rd Changbaishan International Ice and Snow Sculpture Competition.
l January 19, 2017: Participants to leave.
